Jordyn Sleeps

I think this little video explains my trip to the dentist with Jordyn better than I could. The bad news? They said she needs a root canal on one of her front teeth. Should we get a second opinion?

Ha ha! That is amazing. I can't believe she slept through that. That's pretty funny! Hope the rest of the appointment went well.

Wow! I've always wished for kids who would stay asleep like that, but the minute you look at them it seems like they wake up. Bummer about the root canal. I would probably get another opinion, but I don't have a lot of confidence in their dentist so maybe that's why. Good luck!

I waited until Davis was 3 before taking him to the dentist. He had over 5 cavities and so they had to put him to sleep to do it at the hospital in same day surgery to be on the safe side. It was so scary but nice to not have a terrified kid. Now we are freaks about brushing teeth!

I would get a second opinion on the root canal. Root canals are done mainly to save the tooth (I should know I had 2 done and they weren't fun)and if she's going to be loosing the tooth in 2-3 years, why waste the money? There could be another reason why the dentist suggests the root canal (teeth spacing, jaw development, facial structure growth, another tooth won't grow in...) but I think it's a lot of money for a tooth she's going to loose in a few years.
Good luck on that decision!
PS-Your kids a adorable!

I have ooooodles of experience in this area...and some pretty strong opinions about pediatric dentistry. Why does the dentist feel she needs a root canal? (its NOT the same as a grown up one) really..its a "pulpotomy" and it is worth doing if the tooth is hurting or infected. silver crowns on the other hand....grrrr.
ask me ANYTHING...i seriously have been there!!!
