Kids in the Hall

Jason and I try very hard to teach Jordyn about being reverent and well behaved during church. We try had to quick her quiet and entertained...hopefully teaching her to be a good little girl. She does pretty good, but boy, if she doesn't get her way she flips out.

Anyway, today she got taken out to the hall. When she is in the hall she does not get to get down and play. She has to sit on Mommy or Daddy's lap and be quiet. No toys. No books. No treats.

Well, it's really hard for us to do this when all the other kids who get to "go out" get to run around and scream, yell, blow fish faces on the doors, and run. I would never dare say anything to the other parents...totally not my place. I'm just not sure what to do. I guess I need to try harder inside so she doesn't need to "go out".

That's all.

I think there's a conspiracy out there among all two-year-olds to get their parents to take them out in the hallway during Sacrament Meeting at least a couple times a month.

You know what's funny? Anna always seems to behave the best when she sits with someone that isn't mom or dad during the meeting. That's when you really see that the reverence is kicking in. Sadly, she reserves her irreverence for her parents...

Since Ryann squirms so much and is so loud, our idea is to take her into a vacant classroom and ignore her. No attention at all. It's effective sometimes because she asks to go back in and then agrees to be more reverent. Other times though, she plays with the chairs and entertains herself. It's so hard because to hold her still would mean loud screaming and strong wiggling. The other hard part is knowing when she's crossed the line and should be taken out. Church is so super hard right now.
